About the event
The global health financing landscape is at a critical juncture. The recent withdrawal of significant U.S. funding for global health programs has created uncertainty for international health initiatives, including those for infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), maternal and child health, and health system strengthening. This funding shift highlights the urgent need for new, sustainable financing mechanisms to ensure continued support for essential health programs worldwide.
In response, the Infectious Disease Alliance (IDA) is hosting a high-level roundtable discussion at the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA78) in Geneva. This event will bring together civil society, international organizations, governments, and the private sector to explore innovative financing solutions that can bridge the growing health funding gap. The conversation will not only address infectious diseases but also broader global health priorities, aiming to develop actionable strategies to secure sustainable global health investments.
